Be guided in your interviews

Feb 23

One of the ways you can stand out in a sales interview is to show some spunk and a familiarity with the company you are applying for. A good two and a half hours of research will be more than enough. For example, you can look at what the company is currently doing - call a couple of their customers and ask how they’d like the company’s services to be improved. When you’re in the interview, mention this problem and offer a solution you thought up. Don’t be afraid to tell the person you’re talking to that you did some research - it shows you have initiative. Lastly, close the interview by saying you really want the job, and give your reasons why - like saying that you feel that you’ll be challenged in working at a vibrant company like that, and have a number of ideas you want to use.

Uhuuh, so you have very good selling skills, then why didn’t you get the job you were applying for? Asking why, isn’t sales supposed to be a job that requires you to have exceptional convincing powers or skills. You are after all selling yourself as if you were a product and your audience were your customers. The ability of a person to influence the decision making process is a very discrete yet vital one for you to succeed in a sales job.
Reading body language, facial expressions and analyzing speech are just some of the vital skills that can only be developed through years of experience in the industry. A good salesman can sell something a customer is having second thoughts about in no time, wiping away the doubt and closing the deal. Sadly, many use this skill for criminal acts, selling fake or defective goods and many more that is a shame for the sales industry. -

Image Source:slidemanager.bizHow to identify a great salesperson in a job interview? It’s not easy. Odds are great. The truth is.. sales greats are scarce! Research also shows that job interviews are notoriously unreliable for good job performance. That poses a great deal of difficulty specially when interviewing salespeople. Because one thing they’re good at is… handling interview exceptionally well. First thing to do is to look for their history, performance on tests and reference. Sales people are good at getting past the typical interviews.
Here are 3 questions to ask:
1. How will our company benefit from your expertise if we hire you?
2.Think of a problem with the job applied for, then ask “This job requires a lot of cold calling, and im not sure if you can do it. How do we know you can do it and can keep on doing it?
3.Pick a paper or eraser and say, “Sell this to me”.Also you should look out for their answers in these particular questions. Look for specific examples. If they cant provide you with one, you better think twice before hiring them.

How to Prepare for a Phone Interview
Filed under Interview TipsJul 1Phone interviews are quite different than when in person. For one, you cannot see whether your interviewer’s distracted, bored or interested. So, how can a job-seeker make an impression and get called back?
In the absence of sight, hearing becomes sharper. And interviewers can easily hear distraction over the phone. Thus, you have to find a happy place and by that I mean a calm, quiet place where you can focus. Make sure you are not near any distractions like tv, computers, doors and anything that might get your attention from the interview. You have to tell anyone that you “own” the place just for that moment. Moreover, you have to have your resume, pen and paper ready with you. It always pays to be ready. Lastly, you have to consider your attire. If you want to act and sound professional then put on something business-like.
